Welcome to In Good Health!
My name is Jordan Gray and I am a 21 year old college student currently in my senior year at Johns Hopkins University. It's been a crazy few years full of friends, hard classes, lots of studying, and so many learning experiences. I knew going into college that it wasn't going to be easy, but keeping that in mind, I still promised myself that no matter how difficult things got, I would try my hardest to preserve the healthy eating and living habits that I care so much about.
Amongst all of the craziness that seemed to spring up throughout these few years, I somehow managed to keep that promise to myself, and I can't even explain how beneficial it has been for me to continue to treat my body well with good food and daily exercise despite it all. Sure I've had my fair share of late night "drunchies" with my friends that almost always included pretzels avec Nutella, and of course there have been days when it took some serious self-persuasion for me to roll myself out of bed to get to the gym, but all in all, I'd say staying healthy has been successful here at college.
So with that being said, I decided to create this blog so that I could share what I have learned these past couple of years, and what I will hopefully continue to learn in the future, with you! I consider myself an avid (perhaps slightly addicted) follower of many food/fitness blogs so I can't wait to get started. If all goes well, I plan to put up daily posts that will include anything and everything--especially my eats and workouts from each day. I also hope to have guest posts from some of my friends who do an amazing job of leading a healthy lifestyle in college. I'm sure they will have tons of fun and useful info to delve out as well!
I wanted to share a few photos here of me before and after my lifestyle change. The word diet can be toxic. When I first started to eat healthier and incorporate exercise into my daily life, people would ask what diet I was on, and that would get frustrating because it wasn't a diet! I simply wasn't happy physically or mentally. I needed to change the way I treated my body, and that made all the difference. I am in no way saying I was fat or overweight before making these lifestyle changes. I simply wasn't happy with the way I looked or felt. It was as if I was living my life in someone else's body, and I was miserable. Little by little, though, I made changes that were essential to improving my quality of life, and now I am much much happier!
