Finally Back! ☺

Hi guys!! I realize that it's been far too long since my last post (August?!). To be honest, I'm not sure what exactly compelled me to take a break from the blogging. I think that after this past summer, which if you've been following for a while, you know that it was no walk in the park, I needed to just take a break from a lot of things that were creating extra noise in my life.
The blog is something that I love doing and it brings me a lot of joy to write and have friends talk to me about it. Actually writing it has been a huge source of calm in my life. When things get crazy, it's nice to have a forum to just type away about things that I love--food and staying healthy. But with that being said, the past few months required a major focus on school work, and so I had to go on a bit of a hiatus from blogging.
But I'm back now and ready to post tons of awesome workouts, recipes, and the usual updates of course.

Let's start out with some foodie pics, since that's my favorite part!

Just a few pictures of breakfasts I've enjoyed over the past few months. My favorite is the oatmeal, which is the perfect thing to have before trekking to class in the freezing cold. It's already getting too cold for my liking here in Baltimore.
Stovetop oats with almond milk, hemp and chia seeds, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Blueberries mixed in and a bowl of raspberries on the side!

This isn't my normal breakfast but I guess I was feeling weird this particular morning. This is just a big plate of fruit with Mara Natha almond butter on the side to dip the apples in (and eat by the spoonful...)

Again with the fruit?! Yes...plus there's Siggi's Icelandic yogurt to dip the fruit in. I think I've mentioned this before but Siggi's is sooo good for you. It's my favorite yogurt on the market because it packs a protein punch and has the same thick and creamy texture as greek yogurt, but it also has a very low sugar content and is only 110 calories per container. Good deal!

A slice of Ezekiel sprouted cinnamon raisin bread toasted, with Siggi's Yogurt + raspberries on the side!

Another yogurt bowl: Siggi's Yogurt, berries, flax seed and granola sprinkled on top. That's lemon water on the side. I try to have either a glass of warm water with lemon squeezed in or cup of green tea every morning just to get my metabolism kick-started for the day.

Okay now the pictures just get a little random but I'v been stock piling them in my iphoto for the past few months so they have to go up now...

Lunch one day while I was home for a week at the end of the summer.

Again this was at home because I could never make this myself. Mama Shelley is the BEST cook I know. This particular meal was especially amazing. Roasted brussels sprouts, quinoa, and teriyaki glazed scallops.

Summer night treat-fro yo!!

Hey mama <3

Back to school! Homemade dinner with Kylie :)
Quinoa, sautéd veggies, and avocado all thrown together in one big delicious bowl. Fruit salad on the side!

There's this great little place by our campus called Pete's Grill. Everyone raves about it so I was really excited to finally be able to try it. My egg-white veggie omelet and home-fries were really great. I can see why this would be the best hangover food.
Ummm....I like almond butter I guess?

Cheese night with one of my best friends (and big!) here at Hopkins-Jordan! We try to make this a weekly thing. Cheese+crackers+wine+venting about life can be the most refueling part of the week.

Right before school started, Joey and I took an overnight trip to this great bed and breakfast in the middle of nowhere Virginia. It was run by the two nicest guys who got up every morning and made an elaborate breakfast for the guests. This particular morning was peach french toast, fruit and yogurt parfait, extra fresh fruit on the side!

The bed and breakfast was right on a farm and our cottage had a back porch that was super relaxing.

Cows!

Okay enough pictures of food et al. Time for a few workouts I'm challenging you to try!
These are all workouts I found just by browsing through Pinterest. I've tried the leg one and it was great. I plan on doing the full-body one after a quick treadmill run later today. Let me know if you try any of them! Or if you have any other circuit type workouts that you feel work well then definitely tell me about them so I can post them (and give you credit obviously)!

Finally, I've posted about Fit Sugar before but lately I've done this quick 10 minute circuit a couple of times a week just as a supplement to my normal workout, and let me tell you, the first time I did it, I woke up the next day very sore!..in a good way! Give it a try!

That's all I have for you today, but I'll be back later this week and plenty more. No more long breaks for a long while. It feels good to be back! Have a great Tuesday!!
